The Public Relations Specialist will work within the Firm’s Global Marketing and Communication Departments in New York City.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collaboration of mass media and review of daily news releases in the press

  • Assist in implementing communication plan for all candidates invited for interviews and with offers
  • Execute event planning initiatives focused on offer dinners, callback and 1L receptions and annual 1L summer reception targeting top ranked law schools
  • Generate fresh ideas for promotional items around campus recruiting efforts
  • Compile feedback from incoming and outgoing summer associates regarding marketing and recruiting efforts
  • Work closely with Diversity & Inclusion team to keep firm-wide diversity efforts at the forefront
  • Collaborate on varied projects with Legal Personnel & Professional Development department
Skills and Experience
  • 2+ years of marketing and or recruiting and or a combination of  related experience within a law firm or financial institution
  • Ability to build relationships with attorneys and other professional staff

SUMMARY:  The Assistant Manager or Manager of Business Development is responsible for working with Business Development Directors to support strategic plans and objectives for selected practice groups, client/industry groups, and Partners. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Business Development Operations with presentation development, pitches and responses to RFPs for new business
  • Provide competitive intelligence reports and analysis of and related to clients and potential clients
  • Work with Business Development team members and partners to prepare and maintain up-to-date practice descriptions, capability statements, engagement lists and other business development materials
  • Prepare marketing materials; assist Attorney’s with market research, copy writing, editing of materials
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the Firm's engagement database and maintain deals and case experience across other channels
  • Manage and oversee practice and client events, independently or collaboratively, including strategically developing agendas and panels with partners, working with speakers and implementing/overseeing logistics
  • Coordinate the development, maintenance and production of marketing brochures, experience lists, and other materials promoting the Firm’s practices and Partners both in print and on the Firm’s website
  • Prepare directory submissions, award submissions, and survey responses for various legal and business directories and publications
  • Assist Partners and other firm administrative departments in the preparation of internal presentations and varied practice management duties
  • Work with the Director and the Firm’s public relations resources to support public relations efforts including key corporate events, such as speaking engagements, business association networking, writing opportunities, and media events
  • Assist Senior Team members to coordinate, support and maintain Business Development Operations and systems including the Firm’s databases, website and related applications
Required
  • 4 to 6 or 8 to 12  years in business development in a law firm environment - Based on the Asst Mgr or Mgr Role
  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD with BD experience OK too
  • Experience cultivating and managing client relationships
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment working with Partners, multiple seniority levels and departments

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist partners and senior department staff in connection with new business proposals, presentations, RFPs and other related business development efforts
  • Draft and produce new business pitches, proposals and responses to RFPs

  • Coordinate with other department members, including Firm experience, editorial, PR and design specialists, to produce a variety of products
  • Liaises with other internal support departments (such as Client Accounting, Business Development, Technology and Finance) to obtain client relationship data and other information for new business proposals and presentations
  • Combine and leverage research/knowledge to develop new business presentations/products
  • Maximize utilization of the Firm's technology to prepare and deliver products; and coordinate optimal storage, maintenance and sharing of work product
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others
  • Comply with and understands Firm operations, policies and procedures and manage resources responsibly

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 4+years of relevant marketing/business development experience in a professional services firm environment
  • Strong understanding of marketing and business development's role within a law firm

  • Ability to synthesize data, accurately capture it in a narrative, and pay close attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills

    SUMMARY

    The Alumni Engagement Information Specialist is responsible for improving alumni-related data and data-driven business processes through the ongoing maintenance and research efforts for the program.  Projects vary in scope across multiple technology tools and may stretch across various office locations.  In addition to the responsibilities associated with alumni-related data, the Alumni Engagement Information Specialist will be a critical on site resource for local alumni programming and events in the New York office.  The Specialist will assist as needed with the planning and coordination of local programs and must be able to juggle all responsibilities effectively.

    • Assists with regular data refresh campaigns and conducts research of information on missing contact info. 
    • Supports Firmwide reporting needs for alumni data by understanding alumni data & standard vs adhoc reports. 
    • Runs requested reports on alumni data - many ad hoc, some will be regularly scheduled.  Performs quality control on reports for accuracy. 
    • Reviews and maintains existing standard “Saved Search” type queries, evaluating for efficiency and improvement.

    • Assist in the management and preparation of content for submissions regarding major awards, comprehensive survey response campaigns (e.g. Chambers, Legal 500, etc.) and other responses to further awareness and positioning of the firm, the practices and the attorneys. 
    • Regularly audit practice descriptions and collaborate with the marketing managers and attorneys to develop/update practice descriptions and other business development materials as well as work with individual attorneys on drafting/refining their biographies. 
    • Special projects and other duties as assigned (such as firm publications, collateral materials, nominations, directory submissions and newsletter production).
