Summary This Director of Sales Finance and Audit will report directly to the President of Network Sales.  This Network is part of one the largest media and entertainment companies in the world.

He or she must have the capacity and experience in Network or Cable TV to facilitate the desired reporting structures nationally to keep the President informed of all Network Sales financial information.  This person will be the President's "Eyes & Ears".

At the President's request and or based on established fiscal reporting established by the Director, this person will travel to the appropriate Network offices to facilitate the needs of Network Sales.  Chicago and New York are the two primary concerns. Moderate but fun travel.

The President is seeking a person who can establish controls and discern credible data that will enhance Network Sales capacity to function. 

As this person will travel and function with autonomy their capacity to interface with others is very important.  We want to identify a person who will not be perceived as an adversary but a person who is there to help by upgrading the Network’s level of fiscal responsibility and financial reporting to the President of Network Sales. 

Clear sets of organizational skills must be apparent.  Accounting, Finance and or Audit experience in broadcasting is essential with the “ideal” candidate having cable network “sales” exposure to formalized financial reporting structures.

The hard or cold audit persona will not work at the Network.  We need and want a “social person” who can garner trust and respect through effective practices.  This could be a fun job for the right person.  If this person is required to present their findings in a formalized meeting of Network Executives this person should have the capacity to articulate clearly and concisely their findings and thoughts. 

The President is known to reward those that function effectively.  This is a rare opportunity for a capable financial executive to experience stability and growth under the tutelage of a highly respected and noted senior broadcasting executive.  Proven reporting acumen is essential.  He likes to know "Why a deal was done this way"  He is very nice gentleman who shows his employees great respect as a mentor and leader.

Responsibilities
  • Generate analysis of actual vs. plan vs. forecast and explain variances, highlight trends, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Track and maintain Registered and Closed Budgets for the Broadcast Upfront.
  • Create competitor analysis illustrating growth projections against competitors and the industry's overall projected growth. 
  • Develop customized excel financial modeling of deal information and pricing details.
  • Develop the rate card in support of the company's overall sales strategy including calculating total and average impressions, cpm’s, average unit rates, and revenue built based on programming. 
  • Create program revenue analysis and forecasts providing variances to the budget and pacing vs. prior year.
  • Prepare and distribute the audience deficiency liability report to determine the $ amount of make goods that need to be aired and it's impact on the division's p&l.
  • Work in conjunction with credit manager to review and act on collection concerns.
  • Review commission reports
Skills Required
  • 4-8 yrs of TV finance experience with related Ad Sales issues
  • A degree or advanced degree desired
  • A person who enjoys interfacing with all levels of staff
  • Ability to function with autonomy or as team member
  • Capacity to freely improve financial process or reporting when it's needed
  • Ability to do some moderate travel to NY or LA or another National sales office when appropriate
  • A person seeking a long-term career, stability and growth in the broadcasting industry
