Duties

In the Arabic language produce TV shows and news reports on regional and international events. Produce discussion programs, current affairs magazines and features on a variety of subjects including health and personal fitness, entertainment, sports, fashion, science and technology.

  • Deliver quality TV newscasts that inform, entertain and increases audience while adhering to journalistic standards
  • Manage the newsroom as a senior level TV broadcasting executive
  • Play a key role in the editorial process and all assigned TV newscasts, breaking news, special news event programming, news gathering and production
  • Responsible for overall decision-making about story selection, live shots, breaking news coverage and newscast formatting for assigned TV broadcasts.
  • This Executive Producer supervises TV producers; provides training, mentoring, critiquing and evaluations of producers, correspondents and TV anchors.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience (U.S. based experience/journalism education desired).
  • Seven (7+) years of TV production experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of TV news management experience is required.
  • Outstanding leadership skills, high production standards and a drive to excellence.
  • News/editorial judgment focused on in-depth, balanced, quality storytelling that is void of advocacy.
  • Fluency in Classical Arabic (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Solid planning and execution skills with a great attention to detail A proven ability to attract and develop TV talent required to produce quality news programming relevant to the Middle East.
  • The ability to work effectively with other departments within the TV station to gain internal consensus.
  • Strong familiarity with legal risk management issues in TV news broadcasting.
  • Outstanding writing abilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel, Internet applications, and advanced news content systems such as Cinegy and ENPS.
  • A willingness to "roll up your sleeves" to achieve goals and teach staff members to do the same through example. A passion for high-quality journalism and the energy and commitment to be a leader at a 24/7 global TV news network.
  • A broad working knowledge of the Middle East and North Africa, superior attention to details, and a calm demeanor under pressure.

Summary

U.S. based International news organization is seeking a honed broadcasting executive who can manage business, technical and creative issues surrounding the production and operational standards of their international news broadcasts.

Job Description

  • Manage domestic and international broadcast operations
  • Manage domestic and international production and post operations
  • Set high standards for Network identity, continuity and overall on-air image
  • Enhance the Network's ratings by setting high production and post production standards
  • Manage budgets and bring producers back to reality if needed
  • Moderate international travel
  • Work closely with IT and Engineering to make sure the tools needed are available, functioning and comprehensive
  • Manage the gradual in-house ownership and hiring of out sourced production and post-production employees Constantly strive to make programming appealing and set the "Gold Standard" Manage a staff of direct reports globally

Required

  • Extensive knowledge of all facets of broadcast operations, including broadcast production, technical operations, and scheduling

Primary Function

Middle East General Manager has overall management responsibility for the daily operations of the station including senior level supervision of radio staff, budget administration, planning and programming; coordination with the international broadcasting bureaus on overseas transmission issues.

Duties

  • Manage the daily operation of the station ensuring that all editorial and financial controls are engaged.
  • Lead strategic planning to optimize the station’s potential in the region, with an understanding of the related geopolitical issues and media environment that impact the future of the station.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate program formats & concept changes. Lead resource planning for domestic and overseas facilities, employees and contractors
  • Coordinate on all program reviews to monitor and evaluate the quality of the station
  • Ensure appropriate training plans, employee evaluations and counseling, are provided to employees as appropriate
  • Ensure that a safe and positive work environment is provided for all employees.
  • Liaison to external organizations on matters concerning station operations as directed by the President.
  • The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

Requirements

  1. B.S. Degree in communications, broadcasting, or related field; ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. 10+ yrs supervisory experience
  3. Extensive knowledge of the Middle Eastern media environment and geopolitical issues that affect transmission and operations.
  4. Previous experience with an international broadcaster preferred, including experience in managing multiple departments Experience of living and working overseas a plus

This executive will be based in the United States and function internationally and should be receptive to travel.

Required

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant programming experience
  • A solid understanding of business, technical and creative aspects of TV programming 
  • The ability to competitively schedule and program to optimize audience
  • Strong acquisitions, co-pro and development understanding to autonomously function
  • A history of fiscal proficiency when acquiring and negotiating for programming acquisition 
  • A exceptionally strong understanding of the Middle East and Middle East TV programming.  Where it is today and where it should be in the future.
  • The ability to program for On-air and Online properties.
