Summary This Director of Network Sales Finance and Audit will report directly to the President of Network Sales.  This Network is part of one of the largest and best run media and entertainment companies in the world.

He or she must have the financial capacity and financial experience in Network / Cable TV to facilitate the desired reporting structures nationally to keep the President of Sales informed of all Network Sales financial information. This person will be the President's financial "Eyes & Ears".

This person will travel from time to time to New York to facilitate the needs of Network Sales.  Chicago and New York are the two primary concerns but there are other national Network Ad Sales offices in L.A., Wash, DC and Detroit. Moderate but fun travel.  This person can opt to be based in Chicago or New York :o)

The President is seeking a person who can establish controls to discern credible data that will enhance Network Ad Sales capacity to function

As this person will function with autonomy, their capacity to interface with others is very important.  The President would like a person who will be perceived as a person who is there to help by upgrading the Network’s level of fiscal responsibility and financial reporting pertaining to the Network's Ad Sales finances.

Related broadcasting experience is essential with the “ideal” candidate having cable network “ad sales” exposure to the formalized financial reporting structures as listed under the "Responsibilities" below.

A hard audit persona will not work at this Network.  This is a friendly place to work!  "We need and want a social person who will enjoy the Network and their fellow executives."  If this person is required to present their findings they should have the capacity to articulate clearly and concisely.  The President likes to know "Why a deal was done a certain way" and numbers always make sense to him.

The President of Network Sales is known to reward those that function well.  He is a very nice gentleman who shows his employees great respect as a mentor and leader. 

This is an opportunity for a capable broadcasting financial executive to experience stability and growth in a top broadcasting network under the tutelage of a highly respected and noted senior broadcasting executive.

Responsibilities
  • Generate analysis of actual vs. plan vs. forecast and explain variances, highlight trends, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Track and maintain Registered and Closed Budgets for the Broadcast Upfront.
  • Create competitor analysis illustrating growth projections against competitors and the industry's overall projected growth. 
  • Develop customized excel financial modeling of deal information and pricing details.
  • Develop the rate card in support of the company's overall sales strategy including calculating total and average impressions, cpm’s, average unit rates, and revenue built based on programming. 
  • Create program revenue analysis and forecasts providing variances to the budget and pacing vs. prior year.
  • Prepare and distribute the audience deficiency liability report to determine the $ amount of make goods that need to be aired and it's impact on the division's p&l.
  • Work in conjunction with credit manager to review and act on collection concerns.
  • Review commission reports
Skills Required
  • 3-8 yrs of TV finance, TV accounting or TV audit experience with related Ad Sales issues
  • A degree or advanced degree(s) desired
  • A person who enjoys interfacing with all levels of staff
  • Ability to function with autonomy or as a senior team member
  • Capacity to freely improve financial process or reporting when you feel it's needed
  • Ability to do some moderate travel to NY or Chicago when appropriate contingent upon where you opt to be based.
