Responsibilities	Explore advanced technology to include grid based servers to create motion picture content in and for multiple media formats Utilize and develop Java, C++ and C tools to create media formats for Closed Captioning; 601; 701; Window Media Player; Dolby E; H.264; GXF; MXF and theoretical applications in Beta. Summary	Global media and entertainment company is seeking a broadcast executive with mechanical and systems engineering and facilities experience
Job Description	The Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for the mechanical and electrical systems in a 24/7 broadcast television facility. The technical and non-technical space is over one million square feet. The electrical plant includes three 2 MW generators enabling the facility to go off grid during periods of peak demand. There are four large UPS’s in the facility. The Director manages all preventative maintenance of the HVAC and electrical systems using both contractors and internal resources. The Director supervises the daily work of the IBEW Local 3 electric shop and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 30 engineers. Other responsibilities include providing input to the Facilities Design and Construction Department in the design of capital improvements.
Required	Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in either mechanical or electrical engineering A PE is preferred (but not required) At least 7-10 years experience in a 24/7 technical facility with progressively greater management responsibilities is required. Candidates should be knowledgeable of building management systems (Siemens preferred but not required).

Position	Staff Engineer - Compression / Encoding
Location	Virginia, VA - USA
Compensation	$76,000 to $80,000 and bonus w/outstanding benefits - "One of America's Best Employers"
Summary	The Staff Engineer is a member of the Network Technology Group (NTG).  The Staff Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and maintenance support for the Network's Compression and Encoding systems.  The Staff Engineer will also serve as a primary trainer for the TOC staff.
Responsibilities	Manage, maintain and operate all compression technology in use at The Network.  Proactively monitor all inbound and outbound transport streams for errors. Identify and document trends in service affecting outages.  Work with vendors involved in the implementation process and track action items to ensure satisfactory levels of customer support. Review system design documents, including single line drawings, cable schedules and equipment layouts. On-site quality control and proof of performance testing. Perform routine maintenance on compression systems. Develop and administer training seminars and courses to successfully indoctrinate new TOC staff members on the daily operations and functions of the TOC. Maintain and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for TOC operations, Compression systems maintenance, and emergency action procedures.
Skills Required	Candidates should have in-depth experience with domestic and international television satellite compression and distribution systems. Candidates should have a basic knowledge of architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems and how these systems interact with the technical equipment. Computer literacy, excellent oral and written communication abilities and close attention to details are required.  Satellite transmission systems experience is desirable. A BS or BA degree is desirable. Must be authorized to work and reside in the United States.

Summary	These are hands-on positions to maintain technical integrity of the NOC’s base band video/audio and RF infrastructures.
Responsibilities	Install, repair & maintain audio, video, RF, and server based broadcast systems Ability to repair analog or digital equipment down to the component level Thorough knowledge on maintaining, repairing and trouble shooting various video tape machines (DigiBeta, Beta SP, D2, 1” and VHS) Thorough knowledge on maintaining, repairing and trouble shooting various video servers (Grass Valley Profile, Pinnacle Warp or Maverick, etc)  Thorough knowledge on maintaining, repairing and trouble shooting various data tape or disk based archives (Ampex, StorageTek, ADIC, EMC, Avalon, etc.) Thorough knowledge of Harris/Louth Automation – configuration, installation, trouble shooting and operation of Device Servers, Air Clients, File Servers, etc. Ability to maintain and repair HPA’s, antennas, waveguide, exciters and other RF satellite transmission, signal distribution and signal evaluation equipment. Maintain and repair character generators, still stores, logomotions, frame synchronizers, distribution amplifiers, patch bays and other broadcast infrastructure equipment Maintain Motorola Videocipher, Digicypher, and SA Power Vue encryption equipment Provide on-call support 24 hours per day, 365 per year. Support may entail phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failure or other disasters. This includes, but is not limited to UPS/LIPA failures, storms or severe weather, and loss of personnel. Ability to use spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, waveform/vector scopes and other test equipment Ability to setup, coordinate, patch and monitor LIVE events Assist and take phone calls from affiliates in order to resolve problems Ability to work independently on assignments and report back on progress Ability to develop and implement proactive procedures Work with Technical Operations managers and Supervisors on training and development of technicians; develop SOPs to aid technicians Maintain database or reports on preventative maintenance assignments Hands-on installation or fabrication of materials for new or modification projects Ability to install cabling and equipment, interpret wiring diagrams and drawings used in the design of new installations Testing and certification of new installations or modifications Interface with On Air staff regarding daily needs Attend various departmental and crew staff meetings Training of operational staff on equipment and/or configurations
Skills Required	BS Electrical Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent required 7+ years experience in broadcast television, cable TV broadcaster or MSO Prior experience working in a high pressured environment delivering consistency with mission critical assignments Sony VTR maintenance training certification on Digibeta VTRs Harris/Louth Automation training certification a plus Motorola Digicypher II training certification a plus Knowledge of Windows NT, 2000, XP operating systems, UNIX a plus MSCS or A++ certification preferred.
