Description: Community oriented, local, national, international music station is looking for an Executive Director with a commitment to public broadcasting, a dedication to music and an interest in being part of a team pioneering new uses of next generation internet, music publishing and access technologies. This executive director will supervise all aspects of station operations.
As part of a well recognized national advanced networking, digital convergence and computer systems group this area is devoted to technology and innovative music, art and multimedia. This organization is positioned to work at the leading edge in a number of worlds.
This person will be involved in creating and managing technology, outreach and artistically driven initiatives and partnerships. With the resources available and the advanced internet technology commitment and focus this means worldwide.
DUTIES
Under the direction of the Vice President this person will develop and manage budgets and a business plan which guides station activities and projects.
Reporting STAFF
Programming Director
Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating programming that is consistent with station goals and standards. Reviews audience research and plans programming services. Seeks new programming opportunities.Development Director
Responsible for planning and executing regular on-going activities, as well as campaigns to increase station revenue including: Underwriting sales, Corporate and individual Membership drives and Grant applications.Plans, organizes and coordinates listener, artist and music community outreach activities, programs and events dealing directly with community leader, ratites, executives of music publishers and other enterprises.
OTHER DUTIES
Participates in and sometimes has management responsibility for projects and events that extend beyond the boundaries of traditional radio station management and operations to encompass a broad range of technology, outreach and artistically driven initiatives. Collaborate with various groups to experiment with:
- Multiple new form (and quality levels) of on-demand as well as broadcast internet capabilities.
- New forms of music publishing, distribution and access
- Sustained, internet based, audience and community interaction
- Satellite CD technology, programming and partnerships
Digital radio research initiativesREQUIREMENTS
This person must have a knowledge of and a commitment to radio (public) broadcasting and have extensive national caliber non-commercial station management experience as well as related listener, community, music industry and artistic community outreach and fundraising abilities.
A strong interest in technology, especially the internet, including next generation Internet and Internet2, and in the leveraging directly supervises in-house broadcast, computer and network engineering staff members and coordinates with other parts (Divs.) to maintain and extend technical capabilities of the station and related projects.
