    Job Description We seek a web-savvy Managing Editor for the organization to help shape the future of this online web site dedicated to helping the poor.  The successful candidate will lead and manage the editorial development of web-based information. The Managing Editor will be the top editorial executive responsible for directing the editorial staff and coordinating the production of the web site.  This includes:

    • Primary responsibility for editorial and content decisions
    • Developing, maintaining and growing the content, interactive services and features including maintaining exiting content and links nationally and in all local websites
    • Establishing content priorities and content production schedules
    • Managing channel editors and freelance writers for money, jobs, school, family and health content including all translation services
    • Maintaining content advisory groups for each channel
    • Writing and editing
    • Collaborating with the design and web development staff
    Required Skills • Bachelor’s or advanced degree
    • Appropriate supervisory experience
    • A minimum of three years deploying and developing content, services and features on the Internet
    • Ability to work in fast paced environment; a positive and proactive attitude
    • Ability to maintain effective key business relationships with internal contacts and external clients
    • High comfort level with a collaborative work process and collegial working environment
    • Strong project management skills
    • Organizational/Time Management Skills: Job requires working on multiple concurrent projects to meet project deadlines
    • Ability to manage a staff of six employees: (4) four editors and (2) two translators
