Compensation - to $680,000 base and 35% bonus plus sign-on bonus, relocation & stock options and grants at 3rds.  First year pkg $1.35 million

    Job Summary - International Media and Entertainment Conglomerate seeks an Executive Vice President who will function with concern to International business affairs.  This Los Angeles based position entails 20% Japan and U.S. travel.  Extensive International entertainment experience is required in the broadcasting, motion picture, print, music or telecommunication industries.

    Job Description - Expand and more clearly define the business affairs environment by separating domestic and international legal departments.  This person will play a role in defining strategic organizational and development issues while playing a key role in engineering licensing, trademark and royalty policies/systems.

    This position has 7 direct reports (attorneys) and 23 on a dotted line in the United States and 6 direct reports (attorneys) in Japan, South America and Europe.  This EVP will be responsible for the development of staff and daily operations of all international functions within their respective entertainment groups and outside counsel.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 10 years of related business affairs (entertainment or media) experience.
    • Proven record of accomplishment in an international business environment that disseminates on multiple media platforms.
    • Extensive knowledge of international media laws and revenue issues pertaining to licensing, trademark, royalty and telecommunication infrastructure within: Motion Picture, Satellite, Cable, Music, Digital Distribution, Government Relations & Treasury.
    • Ability to interface with senior most business, government and creative executives.
    • Ability to effectively inform the board and CEO of pending legislation, acquisition viability and ramifications of same.
    • Proven record as an accomplished executive and mentor.
    • Capacity to be an effective change agent.
    • This person must be able to lead talented in-house attorneys and their staff, as well as outside counsel.
    • A person who leads by example and is capable of setting new standards for strategic and tactical approaches to international business affairs.
    • Ability to travel internationally approximately 20% of the time.
    • Second or third language ideal. Japanese, Chinese and English highly desired.
